Software

Lenovo Tablet P11 Pro works on an Android-10 operating system. The pre-installed software available with this operating system includes Dolby Atmos, Office, Dolby Vision, Netflix, Bamboo Paper, OneNote, and Squid. Apart from these, the device also has usual Google defaults that include the Kids Space application. This app for the kids is a Play Store that provides YouTube recommendations for the benefit of the children.

Lenovo has added its own several customized software for the benefit of users. Some of these are minor UI elements like the Smart Navigation slide-out menu, real-time beautification mode for video calls, etc. There are other software add-ons like Productivity Mode that are big. The Productivity Mode works like a switch that helps the Tablet P11 Pro toggle between the desktop- to regular phone-like Android interfaces.

Software Support

The Android experience on Lenovo Tablet P11 Pro is not the settings app as it does not show expanded menus, resulting in the wastage of a lot of usable space. Another case in mind is the display of the Google News Feed, which appears as a strip in the middle with lots of white space on either side. Due to the non-availability of Google support, the users have to stretch out across the display area to get buttons. Except for Maps, Gmail, and YouTube, all other Google apps look stretched across the width of the smartphone display. Except for Microsoft Office, all other third-party apps are not optimized for tablets. For instance, the company has not customized WhatsApp and Instagram apps properly to make better results in tablet display.

Productivity Mode

The user can activate the Productivity Mode either from a toggle in the notifications tray or the Settings app. He can pair the tablet with the connected keyboard and Bluetooth mouse in this mode. Similarly, he can connect the latest tablet with the optional keyboard accessory. When the Tablet P11 Pro enters the Productivity Mode, its home screen immediately switches to a desktop-like interface. While in this mode, the user can choose to open apps in floating -windows or full-screen modes. Not all apps open in full-screen mode. However, he can switch between windows quite easily.

Verdict

Despite the limited software support from Google for Android OS, the Lenovo Tablet P11 Pro can easily access and draft emails, play graphic-intensive games, and stream movies. However, it cannot replace the regular laptop. If the user is a frequent traveler, this tablet is a source of entertainment. The users can even look at the 8th generation iPad, which has this price range. The Wi-Fi model of the iPad comes with a price tag of Rs. 37,900, whereas its Wi-Fi and Cellular counterparts come at Rs. 49,900. Thanks to iPadOS and its associated echo system of apps, a combination of Smart Keyboard and iPad can provide more productivity when compared to the Lenovo tablet.
