with a new way for logging into the system. In order to enhance the user experience and make login
simple, Google has introduced selfie video login feature, which helps the user
to get in when locked or booting in.
It allows the customer to log into the Google account from a different device
as well. Just like other face unlock-enabled system, the customer can make a
selfie sign-in by just looking at the camera. Though it is possible to create
realistic AI videos, the current models are not that sophisticated to produce
plausible footage on demand.
Selfie Log-in
The
customer can look at the camera in different angles to let the camera capture
image. If the customer finds login difficult when the servers are busy, he can
just record another selfie clip using simple movements to prove that he is
real. This feature needs to be used only
when other login methods have failed. It might be helpful when he borrows some
body’s computer or when he goes for a fresh device setup. In some cases,
it might simply be more convenient to record a video.
Sign-in Safety
Like other
applications of Google, the video is encrypted when the customer is not using it.
This feature lets him use it only when future sign-ins is done. It can be shared
for additional purpose when he voluntarily shares it. If he does not want to
use the saved selfie file, he can delete it at any time of his choice. This
selfie-enabled login system is designed to detect AI-generated impersonation
and for Google’s security checks. Thus, the system is designed to watch out for
suspicious login attempts. The hackers will not be able to use deepfakes to
breach the account to steal the data.
Conventional
Sign-ins
Google
uses multiple ways to login by default which range from use of password
to specially assigned contacts. Other ways of login that the user can use are verification
codes, specially assigned contacts, and alternate email addresses to recover
the data. He can use these available login methods before entering into Google
accounts. The advanced feature of face login needs to be tried only when other
login attempts have failed. While using familiar computers, these conventional
methods can be effectively employed to access the Google accounts. The
backers of traditional login methods have raised a concern that the advanced AI
might be able to fool the challenging system.
